Read this article in the Cape Times today. Superstar Damien Hirst is spending between £8 and £10 million on his new art work, which is a platinum cast of a human skull encrusted with diamonds. Apparently he wants to make people gasp. But please lets take a moment to consider where that money could be better spent. Well for one there's a lonely gossip columnist without a payroll. Hell, I'd gasp for that kinda cash. And why does news about D. Hirst make the front page anyway? Oh wait, maybe because no-one here can afford it. Could someone please put us all out of our misery and give us some money?

yes yes, you poor fuckers really do need to get funded, and you're doing a great job for no cash. but that shit about what the money could be better spent on? well, how about all the money that art uses, ever? why, the picasso funds could go to aids research and maybe michaelis students fees to the orphans.
