Unsigned Artists of the World Unite and Take Over

Monday, May 29, 2006

Sites like YouTube and MySpace have been highly useful in proliferating a buzz on the net (for example bands like Arctic Monkeys and Arcade Fire used MySpace, and became famous without the backing of a record company). Always trying to be at the forefront, the famous Mr Charles Saatchi has launched Your Gallery with a similiar idea in mind. Apparently it is getting upwards of 1.4 million hits a day, and gallerists and dealers are flocking too. All work sold off the site is commision free, so it might be worth a shot. You could be the Arctic Monkeys of the art world or better yet, replace the empty hole in Mr Saatchi's heart left by Damien Hirst. On the downside, maybe it was my browser, but the system did seem really slow.

In the interests of South African artists, if anyone would like to have an online show, right here in these hallowed pages, please feel free to email us.
