Critics Wear their Pants Too High
Friday, June 09, 2006

I read the new Art South Africa a couple of days ago, and I’ve been mulling over it for a while. Isn’t it the most boring issue yet? Half of it is written by Kim Gurney, and the other half is about Picasso. Whatever was left over is about pretty average photography. Not that I have anything against any of those three things, but just please give us some variety, some critical edge… or are we all in hibernation until the (possible) Not-Another-Biennale? And am I the only person to find the cover photo tad disturbing? I did like the very indignant article by Alex Sudheim, complaining about the view that art criticism is middle-class censorship. Definitely worth the read.

dude, its NOTHING compared to the fucking inane boredom of the first three or so issues of this mag!
Hi Miss Loon, jealousy makes you nasty?
They should force Conrad Botes to draw shit at the end of each issue like he did with the first one. IMO Bitches.
Dear anonymous, I am not sure why you are dragging me into this. Oh, you meant Miss. Sloon? Hmmm, yes, dear Robert does have an issue with the green monster, I agree...
absynthe?
Speaking of which, i must disagree with anonymous (the 2nd) and say that Sophie was a great editor.
sophie was awful. flashy garbage bullshit.
great cover. happy guys with their tin airplanes.
all i know is someone should really do something about kim gurney - she must be the least imaginative writer in the country (remember her artthrob reviews)
well anyone who, even tho young and foolish, ever thought it was hip to fuck kendall geers.
I think she should join the Israeli womens army, she'd probably love that too
oh my god.. are you saying kim g fucked kendall? literally? no i don't believe you.
