Dress Well at Book Launch

Tuesday, June 20, 2006

Nice to see that publisher Brendon Bell-Roberts and photographer Jenny Althusser, coordinated their dress before the launch of David Lurie's book: IMAGES OF TABLE MOUNTAIN. What are you fingering Jenny? A sly attempt at Brendon B's credit card? Wonder what Mrs. B has to say about this and where was she at the time [she likes to watch].

While the pictures don't really cut it and remind us of Geoff Grundling trying to take photographs, the launch seemed quite lavish. There was a big bar and lots of freestanding tables for nice snacks. Unfortunately it was a cash bar and no snacks ever arrived. We were out of cash as usual and luckily got our first stipend from Bell-Roberts Publishing. A whopping twenty five bucks in coins for Black Label beers. Hey, it's a start.

The opening address was given by Premier Ebrahim Rasool, who said something sweet like: "Even though we are rich and there are some poor people around in Cape Town, we get to wake up with the warm fuzzy feeling that we all see the mountain in the morning. Be it from your squat or your Bishop's Court mansion. And it is this that unites us as a nation." This made me feel a lot better...
