Got a couple of listings from what if the world...
OPENING WED 16 AUG @ 5PM
*we will be serving gluhwein
Computer Club is an initative started by 'what if the world...' to bring local graphic designers together. The exhibition will be a meeting point for members of the graphic design community, and an opportunity for the designers to show their work among their contemporaries. The show will have a special 'old school' computer-based aesthetic > as the criteria for the show is that a computer must be involved in the creation of the artworks. The work on display will include screenprints, digital prints, mixed media, transfer prints, etc. In our continuing effort to make contemporary art + design accessible, all pieces will be priced under R1000.
Participating graphic designers include: Matt Edwards, AM I Collective, Daley Muller (MEU), Clinton Campbell (MUTI), Fred Viljoen, Johan Kotze (KID ELECTRONIC), Nigel Moore, Inga Groeneveld (TOKYO VICTIM), Mavuso Mbutuma, and others. OPENING FRI 1 SEP @ 5PM
Drawing Room is an exhibition showcasing the work of a diverse group of contemporary illustrators. After two top-selling shows in 2005, the crew is back for more with Drawing Room 3. This year's show has two new illustrators - Heath Nash and Willeen le Roux - who will join old hands Jesse Breytenbach, Francesco Nassimbeni, Michael Taylor, Jacqui Stecher and Heather Moore. This group exhibition is conceived as a show of affordable art with broad appeal, showcasing a selection of small paintings, prints, silk-screens, drawings, reverse glass paintings and illustrations Its aim is to encourage art buying among our contemporaries.
For an idea of the kind of work that will be showing visit:

I also dropped by their new space, and it's a pretty cool deal. They seem to be thinking of engaging with more edgy art in this gallery, and less saleable goodies. I think if they bring the same enthusiasm and energy into the new venture as to the old one it can only get better from here. Looking forward to some shows. Also the new space of their Neighbourhood Goods market is awesome... it's like a huge shed/warehouse thing, really really beautiful space.
