I went to Mojito's on Long Street the other night. I thought of never going there again as I was struck with a serious dose of food poisoning last Monday, thinking it was an OK idea to try their Monday night special of Calamarish. But, I had to go meet Thembinkosi Goniwe, in town for a conference. We hugged, I licked his balls as usual and had a few drinks (ending at about four in the morning).But Goniwe was not alone. There were a lot of Darkies at the table including our un-Cape curators Gabi and Khwezi, as well as other black lesbian artists like Zanele Muholi, winner of the 2005 Tollman Award. In fact, I was the only white bitch at the table.
After running up a bill of close to R 1000 we were asked to leave by an aggravated fat manager. The only reason being that we had not spent enough money.
Never in my life have I seen such a thing. Thrown out for only spending 1K. Well we decided to stay. It is not everyday that us whities get to experience the racism out there. Fucking cunts. I am not asking for a boycott as I know we all love the cocktail special, but we should at least be aware of what these fuckers are up to.
It's not cool.

Do Ed-Jan Koekemoer's poor parents know that the proceeds from their farming/civil-service work/disposession of natives' lands, which are channelled monthly into their talented prodigy/progeny's bank account, are spent in this manner? Afrikaners used to at least work in the post-office for a solid afternoon, before going out and getting drunk and confrontational.
Great to know that blatantly racist management is not enough reason to boycott an establishment these days. Dear Linda/Ed, what would it take for you to do so? Wait for the fat aggravated manager to blugeon a black customer for not spending enough money? Since when does a good/cheap cocktail absolve a hate crime? Your feigned exasperation rings hollow, and your obvious tolerance of such behaviour (as you express a desire to return) points to some dodgy moral and ethical standards. Buying another cocktail from Mojitos makes you complicit in their racism. You are stupid and ignorant.
And this also applies to any black person who returns to that shithole.
Dear miss thandi. Sorry you did not get the bit of irony that was thrown into the mix. We all know that their coctails suck and are watered down crap. So this was just a little funny that linda put into the mix. But, on the larger part of your argument I agree. And this is an issue that need to be addressed, and it is also not the first long street bar where I have heard these rumours. And stop calling me linda...
