There is a new art blogger on the block; visit www.artmattersinsouthafrica.blogspot.com Robert Sloon we take our hat off to you but Johannesburg needs a sharp-tongued blogger too!
sorry lady: just checked out you blog... the posts are quite boring and long winded and the design is a bit anal, it hurts my eyes. i'll stick with AH as my first port of call. but best of luck.... and you keep believing in art "matters", I'll keep believing in rock and roll.
Your blog saddens me. It is a grossly pretentious facsimile Artheat. At what point did it seem like a good idea to bestow Johannesburg with a "sharp-tongued blogger" that is nothing more than a pale imitation of the art-blog stylings of Mr Sloon. You state that "there seems to be something inherently wrong with a system where the people who assess art’s value are not familiar with the language they are supposedly decoding". Too true, but there is also something seriously wrong with a system where everyone hops on the "Robert Sloon is a rich and successful art blogger so I'm going to copy his style and be super cool and maybe people will notice me because I'm exactly like him and the fact that he's successful must mean I'm successful too" train. Don't you think the Johannesburg art mense deserve a slightly better effort from you if you're going to make those lofty claims? Seriously, find your own voice or fuck off. Ms Thandi is about as incoherent as they come but at least she has an incoherence that is her own, unlike you. You are the crabgrass of online art criticism. Get a real job. Like becoming a professional mime. That way the dastardly offal that spews from your gullet won't bother anyone. Seriously.
...but, hang on, malcommm it's a bit mean to use egte malkie's moniker, even though you drop a letter. what's that all about? got a bone to pick wth the prof?
