thats all good and well, but the questsion is, were there any black people? or were the racial stereotypes in the promotional material once again appropriated by a bunch of silly white folk simply to look cool?
“White South Africans need to rise above a will to innocence concerning the history and continuing presence of white racism” M&G
...but then in this particular case there are not many black art students in this country at this time, for reasons that have been discussed to death in the past.
Oh for fucks sake. Stoppit. This is stupid. Who gives a shit about all this race crap. You are all just feeding the fucking ignorance. While everyone is making a big thing out of it, it's never going to die.
Im not saying it shouldn't be dealt with. Im talking contextually here. This was just a party for fucks sake. People aren't focussing their anger towards the right target. And it definately isn't going to be dealt with by blogging on artheat. If you want to tackle this issue, write an article, do a show. This is the blogspot on artheat. I need say no more. Getting angry here achieves nothing.
I think quite a lot has been achieved by arguments on artheat. Not every little bit of social discussion has to achieve relevance by being broadcast to the nation. It was a little thing, a little party, and it's precisely in the little things that stuff happens. And the point is not to stop having parties, the point is to be able to have a party and be conscious of what you are doing. If it's so fucking hard for people just to be aware, then there is a problem, because the problem starts when individuals want to see themselves as entirely innocent and nobody is. We are all complicit. If we don't want to be aware of this then we might as well be robots controlled by Hollywood, the great Mecca of painlessness,

Dearest Frank
There are a lot of people who don't think it's over. Turning a blind eye doesn't make stuff go away. How stupid can you possibly be?
