FINDING UCT: Narratives, New and Old, in the UCT permanent Collection

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

FINDING UCT takes a new look at aspects of the University of Cape Town's permanent collection. The premise of the exhibition is largely to provide a space for students and the public to view both contemporary and more traditional works collected by the University that they might not otherwise get a chance to see.

The exhibition traverses notions of domesticity, space, place, gender and personal and historical narratives. In essence, the show presents a series of unexpected, sometimes even whimsical, moments from the UCT collection and re-examining their collecting choices over time.

The exhibition is curated by Linda Stupart with Clare Butcher.

Opens: Wenesday September 19, 6pm
Closes: October 10

"The exhibition traverses notions of domesticity, space, place, gender and personal and historical narratives." - Does this say anything? Everything? What a bullshit sentence.
