I totally forgot about this little known fact. From 1912 till 1948, artists competed in the Olympic Games, same as athletes, same prizes. Read the history of this on Wikipedia. I wander who our national team would be if it continued today. And whether we would prove more successful than our muscly counterparts. After all, we haven't had funding for years...While talking of the meeting of sports and art, here's a video interview with Cai Guo-Quiang, the artist well known for his monumental work, and now for producing the Beijing Olympics fireworks.
