Welcome to the All New ArtHeat
Monday, September 01, 2008

If you are here, you'll notice that ArtHeat has moved. And had a bit of a haircut. The new URL, if you move your eyes up is http://artheat.net. Sexy, huh?
If you look left you'll see ArtHeat Project. That's the part where I pay artists a grant to make some work on the site. Take a look at City Skin's offering.
A little further down you'll see ArtHeat Calendar. I'll be trying to keep this up-to-date. At the bottom of the calendar is a link that'll send me an email if you want to submit a listing, or you can just email me the old-fashioned way. It's a good idea to put all the vital information in the subject line of the email. That way it's bound to appear properly on the calendar.
After the Archives and Recent Posts, which need no explanation, you'll see Hot Links. This little bit of fun will keep you informed of all the amazing things I find on the internet.
If you look right you'll encounter ArtHeat DataBase. This is a reworking of an old idea that I never got going. It's a wiki on contemporary African art, similar in idea to Wikipedia, but a little more open and free... we're artists after all. Under that you can track what's changed on DataBase. Pretty sparse and technical at the moment, but that should change soon. Take a look through there, read how it works and keep your eyes peeled. This will be an exciting space soon.
Finally, this is all new to me, and web-design isn't my first language. So if you see any glitches or bugs, please let me know so I can fix them before they get embarrassing.
Oh, and please join me for the RELAUNCH PARTY, at Reception on Hatfield Street, 8pm Thursday 4th September. (Hatfied Street is just off Orange Street, between the 24 Hour Woolworths Engen and Cape Town High, Reception is right near the top.)

It's beautiful
The transparent page with that flaming dice underneath is not so beautiful though. Makes it difficult for a good read.
