THIS IS NOT A JOKE: SFW

Hugh Upsher is a Michaelis Graduate who lives in the suburbs with his parents. He currently studying Desktop Publishing and works as a barman.

After brewing on the subject for a couple of weeks I decided I wasn't too bothered or surprised by our Cultural Ministers actions (see Robert Sloon's last post). I personally find nudity disgusting myself, I find in most situations it is simply unnecessary. I don't want to preach too much as I don't know what its like to be a black lesbian in South Africa. All I want to say is that artists don't need to be explicit to get their message across (I realized this argument is rather invalid if you take the Female Nude in Art History into consideration, but realistically all those 'Old Masters' were all dirty Misogynist perverts). Anyway, the power of suggestion was far more effective in classic horror movies. No one needs to see the hairy monster full frontal or the stab wound up close to be truly horrified. I would say the same logic applies to making good artworks.

It reminded me of an Art Movement that began online back in 2002 but became popular (on the internet) last year. Work Safe Porn is a movement severely under appreciated by artistic communities. It was a reactionary art against the vulgar nature of the internet's explicit content. Hopefully the images will speak for themselves. PANTS MENDED $1 (2002) Anonymous
