DataBase is a community website of contemporary Southern African art that you can edit.
The aim of DataBase is to create a central resource on contemporary Southern African art, built in a decentralised way. The idea is to draw from our collective experience to produce a knowledge base that is free of any hierarchy. The concept of sharing knowledge, where the production of knowledge is a process of giving as well as taking, is important in the current field of contemporary art discourse, where an absence of production is producing an absence of consumption.
DataBase is about sharing knowledge about topics, people, and work in the field of contemporary art. The focus is on Southern Africa, but any relevant pages are welcome.
